On September 26, 2023, KOCHAM visited along with the Embassy, Korean company, SK Nexilis, which opened a factory in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. In the copper foil manufacturing industry, which plays an important role in batteries, SK Nexilis, the world’s No. 1, completed a trial operation of the plant, and its first sales begin this October. After the investment decision, it had to go through numerous gateways due to administrative processing and lack of infrastructure, but ahead of the first sale, the company’s executives’ conviction and commitment were clearly conveyed at the presentation for visitors. SK Nexilis is the top company in the industry that can manufacture the thinnest, longest, and widest quality copper foil, and the Kota Kitabalu plant is expected to produce up to 50K-60K tons per year.
